This project aims to transform the heat pump ownership and installation experience, ensuring a smooth transition to clean energy for homeowners across the UK.

Why is HomelyLifetime Important?

The largest survey of UK domestic heat pump owners (Nesta, 2023) revealed a concerning trend: 10% to 15% of customers are dissatisfied with their installation experience. This frustration not only discourages potential heat pump adopters but also leads to unnecessary service calls due to user confusion.

Modern smart heat pump controllers may leverage software that adjusts operation based on external factors like weather data, and temperature. While this technology is crucial for cost-effectiveness, it can be a double-edged sword. When homeowners don’t understand the logic behind automated scheduling, they might manually override settings, potentially leading to increased costs and even system faults.

Furthermore, our installer research found an alarming statistic: an average of 2+ callouts per customer per year due to user error, translating to wasted, costly visits per customer, and wasted time for the installer.
